Over the years PSYP has established and assisted a in range of homelessness projects.
It established a street outreach programme in 1991 from a fund raising concert by legendary band Midnight Oil. This project was taken over by Anglicare when funds ran out and continues today.
It brought Homeless Persons Week to Parramatta with permission from the Sydney Committee and opened it up to all local church, welfare and community groups in Parramatta. The first week of August is now a regular feature on the calendar of many in the CBD from homeless people, politicians, bikers and many from the general community.
PSYP provided initial training for volunteers from Parramatta Baptist Church who then assisted with the Anglicare Street Outreach Team and a regular Sunday feed for homeless people in Parramatta.
PSYP is now developing a supported accomodation project concept for homeless young people which will provide support from local church groups, volunteer training and link residents to government, welfare and community groups.
PSYP still organises the launch at the start of Homeless Persons Week in Parramatta. During the week many other groups run important activities and all the details can be found on www.hpwparramatta.org.au
